using film & animation
to tell your story
what do we do?
During all the years our clients have come to us asking how best to tell their stories, our advice has never changed: start from the ground up, by looking at who you want to talk to, how they can best be reached, what you really want to say to them and how you want them to feel or act as a result.
Everything begins with this; by working out what the story is and then finding the best way to tell it. We like nothing more than to create beautiful films, but these are not enough on their own. They also need to the right films; for the story you want to tell and for your audience, channel and budget.
This has helped us create engaging and effective communications for many of the world's largest companies and biggest brands, as well as some of the UK’s most important government bodies and NGOs.
Films, animations and audio content that have brought their issues, events and campaigns to life and, in the process, challenged attitudes and changed how people behave. We’ve inspired people, engaged them and made them think and feel differently. And we’ve done this across social media, as well as owned, earned or paid-for digital channels, live events, and broadcast TV.
Now we want to use what we’ve learnt to help brands, charities and NGOs, as well academic and cultural institutions, tell their stories. This is what BB is all about.

why work with us?
Because we’ve been where you are. We’ve faced the challenge of how to create effective campaigns while keeping costs low. We know commissioning creative work is really difficult, because we’ve done it. We know just how hard it is to work out how much to spend and what to spend it on; what the best way is to tell your story to your target audience. Most of all we understand how tricky it can be to work out the value of a proposed approach, rather than just judge it on cost.
Because we’ve been commissioners and clients, as well as producers and film makers, we can help you navigate this. And because we operate an agile, transparent and flexible business model, you can be sure that our advice is whole focused around fulfilling your brief and telling your story in absolutely the best way.
This approach has helped us build really meaningful, long lasting and collaborative relationships with our clients; something that never fails to produce better results. It enables us to add value wherever we can and spot opportunities for you to expand your reach and increase your engagement, so you ultimately get more for your money.
This has lead to us producing all types of award winning animation and live action, and to creating campaigns with real impact across broadcast, online and offline media.
As technology becomes more and more accessible it has never been easier to make a film. What we know is that it still takes knowledge, skill, experience and above all collaboration to make that film a good one.

how do we do it?
Whenever we look at a client’s brief, we have just with one thing in mind: what is the most creative and effective way to spend your budget so that we deliver real, measurable value?
There is no set route to doing this. Creativity is not just about interesting ideas, it is also about how you realise them. The only thing that matters is making sure as much of your money as possible goes on screen and that as little as possible is spent elsewhere.
Our experience has taught us that the best way to do this by looking at each brief with a completely open mind and building the best team for each individual project. This tailored approach offers a lot of advantages: it unleashes creativity, it's truly flexible and it provides fantastic value.
Time and again, as commissioners, we would be presented with creative routes that spoke more about a supplier’s business model, what in-house resources they had or what film they wanted to make, than it did about our communications need. Now the boot is on the other foot, we’re determined not to make how we work a square peg for the round hole of your brief. Instead, for each project, we create a tailored approach built around your needs, your budget and your audience.
How do we do this and still offer value for money? It’s simple. We keep our overheads really low by being agile and cloud-based. We go open-source and off-the-shelf whenever we can. Wherever possible we try and empower you to make decisions and contribute to the process where and when you want to.
We also charge a flat rate for key roles. Nothing used to annoy us more than having to pay escalating amounts for layers of executive or account management personnel we never met or had input from. Because of this we’ve committed to only charging for the people actually working directly to fulfill your brief, and to charging the same amount for them whether they are internal or external to BB.
Meanwhile, our creative collaborators, including lighting cameramen, editors, animators, sound engineers and colourists, are not only some of the best in the business, but they also tend to own their own kit. This again creates real flexibility and value for money and as well as helping to integrate them seamlessly into our agile team.
Most of all, we love what we do and believe this really comes across in the quality of the films we make and the added value we can deliver.

Andrew Lane Fox's approach to content creation is informed by having been both a commissioner and a producer; a client and also a supplier.
He began his career creating broadcast TV programmes for the BBC and Channel 5 as well as corporate films for a wide range of blue chip clients. He then spent seven years making transformative, behaviour-changing moving image content for government at the Central Office of Information. At COI he ended up overseeing the TV department's entire multi-million pound output: TV commercials, TV fillers, digital and mobile content, long form broadcast programming, branded content and afp, interactive TV, experiential films, ambient display and offline media. Since rejoining the private sector, Andrew has worked as a creative, script-writer, director and strategist on hundreds of projects; both live action and animation. He’s helped create branded content, on-air promos, user generated video projects, social media content, b2b, b2c & internal comms films and large-scale experiential pieces. Andrew has worked in more than twenty countries, across four continents. He's won awards for his directing, his writing and his producing at New York, Cannes, IVCA/EVCOM and the US International Film & Video Festival. |
